about

Formed by members of Wolves! (of Greece) and Twinkie in 2003, Lords (Lord Philippe Jean Welding - Guitass, Triumphant Vocalisations, Lord Elvin Beetham Wallace – Drummage, Lord Christophe Gordon Sumlin – Bassar) belong to a new school of bands that ignore the old rock rulebook. Who says you need a bass player? The secret Lords amps generate enough bass for 3 bands. Your booty will not go unshaken. Neither will your party spirit fail to be roused.

Their rhythmical approach is, at first, difficult too, and is rooted hard in free jazz too with all 3 members seemingly splitting off randomly at times. But this is their key, don’t try too hard to follow it, free your heart from your head and most importantly place a hand on the ass next to you and you’ll soon see that it all makes a beautiful sense. They exist purely to bring the party to any gig situation.

The Lords are not high brow, they are in fact the lowest brow. These men operate so far out of fashion they stand alone and shine with a majestic beauty. They make "fucked up, broken blues" where every influence is assimilated on the same terms. By "blues" don’t think Clapton, think the spirit of dancing and grinning and drinking and loving as an antidote to whatever badness is happening. It’s not shallow though, this Lordy love runs deep. Lords have shared stages with such alt-rock luminaries as The Fucking Champs and Weird War.

‘This Ain’t a Hate Thing, It’s A Love Thing’ perfectly encapsulates the controlled chaos of a Lords show. A blast of volume, a little offbeat humour and absolutely the correct amount of sweat-drenched rock action. Welcome to the house of Lords.

about

Lords Nottingham, UK

Lords deliver good vibes at exceptional volume. Their rock is both shonky and squidgy. They follow the 'drunken master' approach. They are one part 70s rock, one part euphoric free jazz, one part primitive blues, one part garage rock and one part DC hardcore. They are all parts love. They are no longer teenagers. They laugh hard in the face of woe and strife. Do not lend them your amplifier. ... more
